We are Kick Peasant Farming Assoc.Ltd incorporated in Uganda as a company without share capital to engage peasant communities in commercial agricultural activities.We have designed a three years work plan to manage ten thousand local birds such as hens,turkeys and ducks which are currently reared domestically under free range system by setting up 100 production structures and one management unit to manage them using modern technology and skills so as to meet international demand and markets.
Peasant community rear local birds such as hens,turkeys and ducks under free range system where the peasants do not care about the birds feeds,water drugs and share shelter with peasant families.This system has made great losses of birds from eggs handling,hatching, chicks care and care of adult birds.And in most cases they sale the birds when they have been attacked by fouls diseases such as new caesle foul pox and fever whic require vaccination and proper veterinar handling hence lose market
The project shall organize 2000 peasant women households into 100 legal groups of 20 families and provide poultry shelter,feeds, drugs,vaccintion,clean water,veternary expert so that each group shall manage 100 birds assisted by veternary officer.The project shall also set up management unit to handle 10000 local eggs and day one chicks which shall bought from this poultry groups in order to manage them for international market.There shall forward and backward linkages between groups and KIPEFA.
The project shall provide long term income generating activities while employing 2000 peasant households and reduce household poverty and provide nutrition to growing children and adults families.The sale of poultry products shall provide incomes and reduce pressure on land which subsistenc peasant farming has degenerated and birds droplings shall provide fertilizers to already poor land use.Over 2000 people lives shall be improved and the environment shall be protected by leaving subsistence
