Summary

Help us create an organic food bank value chain to help the vulnerable, needy, abandoned, destitute, orphaned and physically challenged. we are working together to enhance the lives of children We are targeting 1800 children to be fed by the value added nutritious flour. Also we are supporting small scale farmers on providing low cost solar powered pump irrigation kits.We aim to provide 1800 underprivileged Kenyan children across Bungoma County with access to Education and Economic support.

Challenge

Help us create an organic food bank value chain to help the vulnerable, needy, abandoned, destitute, orphaned and physically challenged. we are working together to enhance the lives of children We are targeting 1800 children to be fed by the value added nutritious flour. Also we are supporting small scale farmers on providing low cost solar powered pump irrigation kits.We aim to provide 1800 underprivileged Kenyan children across Bungoma County with access to Education and Economic support.

Solution

We have identified more than 3850 small scale farmers who need capacity building in sustainable Agriculture,organic food banking for value chain,trainers of trainees among others.Through a multi-stakeholder, participatory, inter-disciplinary, pro-poor and gender-sensitive approach, activities undertaken in this framework span from seed selection and enhancing cultivation, post-harvest,food bank, value addition,marketing to surveying, collecting and conserving genetic diversity/Educational.

Long-Term Impact

Capacity building supports all aspects and includes training 3850 farmers by researchers,demonstration farming, empowering them with seed capital as well as lobbying to establish a supportive policy to environment. Value chain development will directly improve the livelihoods of more than 120000 poor farmers/raise income for underprivileged children in Bungoma's 9 sub-counties poor farmers by increasing yields, decreasing losses during processing, increasing bargaining power and their well being
