The project will support vulnerable families in their particular efforts to address famine and malnutrition through delivery of type of crop and vegetable seeds and fishing gears distribution to the most vulnerable households, establishment of demonstration plans as learning sites, training on the different crop and vegetable types, seeds processing and continuous extension service provision to the farmers through the community based agricultural extension workers.
South Sudan is facing grave food insecurity and requires urgent humanitarian assistance. According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification update February 2017 More than 2.4m are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. As very limited cultivation is taking place due to lack of agriculture inputs and fears of insecurity. CARDS will provide livelihood revitalization and diversification through crop and vegetable kits and fishing gears distribution to the most vulnerable households
CARDS will set up of registration committee whose roles will be to identify and register project beneficiaries based on the developed and greed selection criteria. Registration of targeted beneficiaries women, men, boys and girls in farming and fishing. Training of beneficiaries in basic agronomic and fish preservation and marketing. Purchase and distribution of viable and climate adapted and beneficiary preferred crop/vegetable seeds plus tools and fishing gears.
The project will educate and support 1000 vulnerable People in South Sudan and allowing them to rise out of famine, which will provide for their families. Which they will have Livelihoods and Resilience. Be able to produce their own foods. For targeted beneficiaries Women, men, boys and girls in farming and fishing families.
