Women and girls human rights abuse in siaya has been escalating at an alarming rate, this is in regards to the number of cases reported to SCODA every year. Although we are working diligently with other local networks and the government line ministries to reduce the incidences, these women and girls are still at risk of land grabbing, disinheritance, drop out from school, and politically instigated violence as they are not informed of their constitutional rights. We target 100 women and girls.
SCODA provides land rights training and legal aid through legal clinics sessions. The women political aspirants are trained on effective political campaign methods, roles of a political office and qualities of a good leadership. Legal advisory and continuous training center is built to facilitate easy access to legal aid and services within the community and to also act as a temporary placement center.
The project will train 100 women and girls enabling them to take timely action against perpetrators, which will reduce their vulnerability and ensure effective participation in social, political and economic development in the community.
