Summer Arts at the Playground is Mill River Collaborative's signature program providing family fun to the Stamford Community. Through Fun Saturday Mornings, children ages 2-9 experience multicultural music and dance troupes in June and July attracting over 100 participants each week. In 2012, we will also offer Family Movie Nights and Environmental Education drop in programs to expand opportunities for safe, engaging learning and entertainment along the river.
Access to music making and performances increases children's creativity and self-esteem while stimulating brain connections. All too often access to live music and dance performances is unavailable for youth in urban settings. Stamford, CT has a vibrant arts community, and the Mill River Park Summer Arts program strives to makes open air cultural performances available to young audiences across socio-economic backgrounds.
This program provides three months of cultural and environmental education programming to the Stamford community. Engaging youth ages 2-9 in music and dance performances, family movie nights and environmental education workshops.
Over 1000 youth will be able to participate in arts and environmental education programming through this initiative.
