Most of the Indians are familiar with the Sanskrit Shloka
Na chorharyam, Na cha raj haryam
Na bhratubhajyam Na cha bharkari
No one can steal it, not authority can snatch,
Not divided in brothers, not heavy to carry,
As you consume or spend, it increases; as you share,
Education (Vidhya) is the best wealth among all the wealth anyone can have.
However reality is bleak, Education as an asset is seldom a privilege that many girls in our country receive. They are confined to hosehold chores and are married off early. Recently watching a video of Malala, I was reminded of my childhood where my parents priority was education, not just for me, my brother and sister also for the entire community that we lived in the industrial neighborhood in Bangalore, Their minimal qualification did not stop them fromchanging hundreds of lives who now lead a dignified life because of Education, whose life otherwisewould have been uncertain.Growing up in such an environment helped me to understand the ‘importance of education’ Andthe reason behind establishing SUKRUPA – to nurture and cater to underprivileged children.
As we all know empowering a woman is empowering a family, it starts with providing strong education to the girl child!!! for their secured life and for their individual identity. Education is the only solution!!!.
As Malala Says “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world”.To become a change agentSponsor a Girl Child at SUKRUPA Today. There are 185 Girl Children waiting for your sponsorship each one them with the possibility of becoming global citizens with quality education. Attachments:
