This project is providing training requested by the community leaders of Lahu villages from northern Thailand to help strengthen marriages and family relationships through 3-day interactive seminars that help develop skills for effective communication, conflict resolution, parenting skills and positive moral standards.
Many Lahu couples get married and start families with little and no counsel from family or spiritual leaders. As the responsibilities of family life compound with the addition of children, many marriages reach a breaking point and end in divorce due to drugs, promiscuity or abandonment. Many couples lack the basic skills of communication, conflict resolution and effective parenting.
LLW has been asked to provide foundational marital counseling to help equip newly married couples with the skills necessary for effective communication, conflict resolution, and constructive parenting to help families thrive and build strong family relationships.
We plan to train and equip at least 200 couples who will be able to pass on their family skills to the next generation of families that will help strengthen the communities of northern Thailand.
