Stabilizing the livelihoods of 600 conflict affected internally displaced persons, returnees and the local population in Mundri County, Western Equatoria State, South Sudan through emergency and static Food Security Livelihood response.
In 2018 the food security situation is again likely to deteriorate for the fifth consecutive year with 5.548 million people severely food insecure (IPC 3, 4 & 5) in the January - March 2018 projection period. . With no end in sight to the multi-context crisis: violence & conflict, food insecurity, economic crisis, disease outbreaks and the collapse of healthcare and social services, the 2018 lean season is projected to begin early and become worse than in 2017.
This programme will meet the short term and medium food security needs of the 600 beneficiary targeted communities in Mundri County, Western Equatoria State. Intervening at the household level to meet the emergency food security needs through provision of Provision of vegetable kits, Provision of cereal seeds and tool kits, Provision of fishing kits
Training of trainers on agricultural practices in farmer field schools In order to ensure sustainability of the project, a training of trainers approach will be organized with selected Lead Farmers and Lead Farmer Field Schools, which will be set up in order to establish demonstration plots and Lead Farmers will be trained as trainers for community farmers. The Lead Farmers will facilitate discussions and demonstration on good agronomic practices for the vegetable and cereal crops production
