The purpose of sport for peace initiatives is to harness the power of sport to support peace-building,  unite children,  and give children the confidence they need to set personal goals, achieve their aspirations and create opportunity for themselves, their family and their community.

Northern Uganda Children's Marathon was one of the event organised by Art for Children Uagnda to promote sports among disabled children. Different children registered for the event and Nancy school for the Deaf which was supported by the GlobalGiving funds actively took part in the event. The children was supported with 4 balls for their schools, meals during the marathon and transport to and fro the marathon event. The event attracted both school going and out of school children, community members and local authority.

During the event, Art for Children Uganda was well positioned to facilitate the process of relationship-building by bringing children together and engaging them in dialogue and programs that cross diverse boundaries. the children were able opportunities for social contact. The programs able to provide a shared experiences between people that by sharing sport experiences.

We are greatfull for the support from different partners who came in to help us in the organisation of the event like Coce Cola, The Global Fund for Children, Adina Foundation Uganda, Children's Chance International, Concerned Children and Youth Association, Shines Care Uganda, Atonga Foundation, Sport and Development, Rao Community Development Initiative, Development Agency for Northern Uganda and Uganda Red Cross Society. We alos thank all the donors who supported us including those who support us through Global Giving
