Thousands of poor families in Phnom Penh struggle to pay for their children's education and nutritional needs. As a result, many children drop out of school when they reach their early teens. A low level of education and lack of vocational skills make these children vulnerable to abuse (including illicit drugs), human trafficking and child labor. This project supports 300 children from 200 families (1000+ direct beneficiaries).
We support poor families in 3 ways: 1. covering education costs for their children, 2. paying a monthly food subsidy to parents who meet criteria, and 3. assisting parents with parenting skills, vocational and micro-enterprise skills, counselling, setting goals and job placement. Child Development Programs: Sponsorship for Formal Education, Supplementary Education, Food and Healthcare, and run children and youth clubs for creative, spiritual, social and emotional care.
"SC families have acceptable living conditions and their children enjoy their basic rights". This means improved living conditions: living over the Cambodian poverty line, having enough food, clean water and proper clothes, access to health services, living in a cleaner community with suitable housing & feeling valued by the community. SC children have birth registration, access to education, and are free from child labor & all forms of abuse.
