The end of term three 2016 concluded a successful year for KF. We would like to use this opportunity to let you know about the latest achievements of its high achieving students and alumni.
We had our small, yet equally remarkable class of two students graduate Grade 12; Jessy from Chalo Trust School (CTS), who scored above average on the IGCE and Andrew from Pestalozzi Education Centre (PEC), who achieved excellent results, including distinctions in five subjects. We are eager to hear back from the various post-secondary programs to which they have applied! Former head girl Jessy has wasted no time, and has already begun a 3-month internship at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka.
As the circle of life continues, KF is very happy to welcome six exceptional new Grade 8 students; 2 boys and 1 girl at each partner school. In other news:
We have three new head boys and girls in our midst: Kellyson and Lydia at Chalo Trust School, as well as Rabecca at Pestalozzi Education Centre
In addition, three new KF students have been recognized for their blossoming leadership skills by being named prefects: Philip and Cararise at Chalo Trust School and Martin at Chalo Trust School
All eight of our Grade 9 students passed their national exams with flying colors. We are particularly proud of Terry (PEC) and Emmanuel (CTS) who scored impressively, and the highest of their KF cohort at each school
Six Grade 10 and one Grade 11 student completed 1-2 weeks of work experience at companies and organizations around Lusaka, five of which were new partners for KF. These include: Clinton Health Access Initiative (Lydia, CTS), Barefeet Theatre (Emmanuel, PEC), Metropolis Healthcare Limited (Ased, PEC and Cecilia, CTS), Tiny Tim and Friends HIV Clinic (Mercy, CTS), and Modzi Arts (Nelly, PEC). Our long term partner Rock Insurance Brokers graciously hosted Vincent (CTS) for two weeks.
In the realm of performing arts, there were three notable performances:
Cultural Day at Chalo Trust School, featuring many cultural dances for each grade
Independence Day Celebration at Pestalozzi Education Centre, featuring cultural dances and skits from all four corners of Zambia, as well as neighboring countries
End-of-Year I Am Pestalozzi! Showcase, directed by KF fellow Jessica, and featuring original skits, songs, poems, and dances by many KF and other PEC students
Also attached are Francine’s grades from Term 3 at Chalo. Francine continues to work hard in her subjects at Chalo.
None of this would be possible without your ongoing support. It is so inspiring to see what these students can accomplish, when given the resources and encouragement to see it through. We are very proud of them for their hard work, creativity and success this term, and we hope you are as well.
We remain grateful for your continued support, and wish to thank you for this.
