The project plans to break low income women into the lucrative transport business in Sierra Leone through teaching them on how to drive tricycles ,organizing them into a business cooperative and providing them licensed and insured tricycles as loans,As most women in the country are uneducated and skilled and unemployed or not engage in any profitable income generating venture. The transportation business in a fast growing sector so making women enter into it will provide them better incomes.
In recent times many young women are being lured by human traffickers into accepting offers of a good paying job as maids in the Middle Eastern Countries because most are not engaged in any meaningful or economically productive and profitable activities by of high unemployment. Sierra Leone has a population of over 7 Million with 51% women who have the highest percentage of illiterates and unskilled population .This project will help more than 30 low income women by delivering better incomes.
The project will teach and trained ,test and provide driving licensed for those who pass the test successfully. The will be organized ,to form a registered cooperative business and trained to manage it. At least two tricycles will be procured,licensed and insured and be loan to the cooperative for commercial operations. The loan for each tricycle is expected to be paid within a nine month timeline as these loan repayment will be used to procured other tricycles to give other members .
The project will enable women to move into highly profitable ventures and forming a driving business cooperative for women, reducing the technology gender gap and reduce the rate of migration of young women to Middle East and Europe by employmen for young women ;thereby enable them to provide for their families,improve their health and well being. The glass ceiling will be broken by young women through their entry into male dominated occupations breaking new grounds of opportunity for them
