Spay and Neuter for 1000 Cats in Romania

Cat spay project September in Lipia, Snagov

Romania Animal Rescue runs our feral cat spay project for up to 100 spays and neuters per month in Craiova and Bucharest.  But we also reach out to more communities with our everyday spayathons.

2 places reached this month were Lipia, Snagov, Romania.   Along with our friends from Germany, RAR was able to spay and neuter many cats who will never ever give birth to suffering animals!   Lipia is a poor community with little resources or vet care.  Our vet team is able to provide spay and neuter along with vet treatments for cases brought in to campaigns.

Another location we were able to help in was in a village near Cluj-Napoca, Romania.   A remote village is generally unable to get the proper vet care or spay and neuter services.  This is why we travel to bring help to them.

Thank you for your support, I hope you will continue to support our spay and neuter work and please consider contributing to the Center of Hope construction so that we can complete our headquarters for animal vet care in Ilfov County, Bucharest.  We are desperate for an x ray machine to be able to help the animals to the fullest.

Dear Supporters and Friends,

Romania Animal Rescue and our sister charity Animal Spay Neuter International have been extremely busy with cat spays and neuters in Romania, and have traveled to help in Bulgaria as well.    In Romania we provide cat spays and neuters in many locations as our funding allows, as well as run a feral cat spay program for up to 100 cats per month in Craiova and Bucharest in cooperation with NetAp from Switzerland.   We also reach out to villages and communities to help animals  with spay and neuter as well as veterinary care, often the only time a cat or dog will see a vet.  Please see the video of HOPE, our mobile spay clinic, that has been busy traveling to some of the most rural villages to spay and neuter and provide vet care  for cats and dogs.  In total, RAR/ASNI have spayed and neutered over 48,400 animals.

We hope to continue with this extremely important work and expand to help even more, but we need your support.   I have the photo of a kitten who was found by students at the school yard.....luckily these students took the kitty to the clinic in Craiova and the RAR Homeless Animals Hospital project was able help the kitten, now named BunBun.  Not all kittens are as lucky as BunBun, who was adopted in the UK by a lovely lady who read of his plight.   Many if not most cats and kittens roam the streets and forests starving and full of parasites, some with injuries like BunBun's  - this is why we do what we do - to stop the birth of unwanted animals that will be abandoned to suffer.

Here is what Raluca, our project coordinator in Bucharest for our monthly spay program there, sent to me:

"As always, we have people outside Bucharest coming with dogs and cats, we have dogs taken from the street and then adopted by those who bring them, if there is no danger of having puppies. Also, some of the cats and kittens were found on the street by the vet team and they managed to find adopters for them after spaying. The phone is ringing and ringing, people have become more and more aware of the necessity of spaying and are very keen to bring their animals. This is why we need your donations to help us spay/neuter as many as possible.

Thank you to all the RAR/ASNI donors who make this possible, thank you Nancy Janes and Dr. Aurelian Stefan for your great medical team and thank you to all volunteers - without your help we can't do anything!"

We would like to thank YOU, our donors, who allow us to help in so many places!  Without donations, we could do nothing!

Dear Friends,

Spring is here, and you know what that means...more kittens.

We are constantly being asked to provide cat spays.   But our funding has run very short, even as the demand has increased.  More and more people now understand how important spay and neuter is and the request for our help is enormous.

We currently co-sponsor a feral cat spay program in Craiova and Bucharest for up to 100 animals per month with Net Ap Switzerland.   RAR runs spayathons year-long throughout Romania and more and more people are asking us to spay their cats with the Dream Team's excellent vet skills.  We want to help the impoverished people to be able to help their beloved pet, and we need your help please.

Dr. Aurelian Stefan was invited to train vets in Finland for a massive cat spay event.   Keyhole incisions make for early recovery time!

I hope you will continue to help us help more cats and stop the abandonment of unwanted animals on the streets and in forests.

Thank you very much for your help!

Greetings and a very Happy New Year to you!

2015 was an extremely productive year, our best yet, thanks to support from wonderful donors who understand the importance of spay and neuter!   Romania Animal Rescue spayed and neutered approximately 3000 cats in 2015, with a grand total of spays and neuters nearing 10,000 for the year (cats and dogs), and over 43,000 since we began spay and neuter.  Thanks to YOU, its working!

Now for some SUPER news.  Romania Animal Rescue (RAR) has joined in a campaign with NetAp, Switzerland, and Family Vet, Romania, to do feral cat trap neuter and return in Bucharest and Craiova, Romania.  The goal of this project is to have less suffering and starving cats and kittens, and to stop the cycle of unwanted births.

The other SUPER news is the construction of our new Romania Animal Rescue Spay/Neuter Center, Homeless Animals Hospital, Education Center, and Veterinary Training Camp Headquarters, along with the launching point for HOPE, our mobile spay clinic.  The Center  location is being built just outside of Bucharest and will serve communities in a 100 km radius.   This state of the art center  will provide free spays and neuters and vet care for those who cannot afford to pay and homeless animals, subsidized spay and neuters and vet care, and vet services for hire to help us raise funds for more work and to pay salaries for vets and techs.

We are asking for help to build the Center at the cost of $20 per virtual brick.  The costs include the building of the Center itself, the purchase of equipment such as tables, cages, lights, instruments, xray machine, ultrasound, etc.  Please help us spread the word and ask your friends to invest in the future for Romanian animals to stop the suffering.   If all goes to plan, and if we receive the required funds, we hope to have the ribbon cutting ceremony for this new Center in mid October, 2016.

For us, this is a Dream in the making.  For the Romanian animals, it is a Dream come true.  Please help us invest in the future - with the goal to limit the needless suffering of unwanted cats and kittens.   Thank you for your time and for reading our latest update.  I wish you a lovely 2016!  * Please enjoy the HOPE video, and thank you to Sir Paul McCartney and MPL for allowing us the use of the song "Hope of Deliverance" to use as our mobile clinic's theme song.  Also please see how a spayathon is done in our video number 2.

Dear Romania Animal Rescue Supporters and Friends,

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for your tremendous help in providing the funds for cat spay projects in Romania.   The need is extreme, and we need to appeal to you for help once again.

In August, RAR ran our 100 cat spay campaign in Iasi - a campaign specifically for cats as there is no other charity helping cats in this city.   Our recent Craiova spayathon provided free spay and neuter for 200 cats in this city, as there are no other cat spay programs here.

We would like to ask for your help to spay cats in Bucharest and Craiova, our hub cities, in the winter months.   These cats will be owned and return to warm homes......and never reproduce kittens that would be subject to abandonment on the freezing Romanians streets or in the forests.

Thank you for any help you can provide, it is greatly appreciated.   Together, we can change the fate of so many !
