The science lab is open in the evenings.
The solar system at Tegaruka Secondary school has been greatly appreciated by both the school's faculty and the students. Teachers are now available to assist students with their studies and for the first time these students are able to study in the evenings. All of the teaching staff is very appreciative of having light for working in the evenings and for the ability to charge their phones on site rather than making a trip to town.
On March 3, 2014 TanzSolar made a routine maintenance visit to Tegeruka Secondary School to evaluate the operation of school's solar power system. Maintenance issues continue to come up, even though we think of solar photovoltaic systems as requiring very little upkeep. There are no issues with the solar system itself, however the light bulbs continue to fail. TanzSolar has returned and replaced many of the original LED bulbs with new, better and brighter bulbs. These are specified to have a minimum of a 3-year lifespan, so we hope to have solved that problem for 3 to 5 years.
We thank you for your donations and for making this project possible. Your continued support will help us to maintain and operate this project and to bring solar power systems to additional rural schools.
