New portable solar package avalaible for villagers

TanzSolar’s Global Giving project, Affordable Solar Light for 12500 African Villagers, continues to subsidize the cost of solar lights for rural Tanzanian families.  We have just $1,000 left to complete this project, only 1.6%!

TanzSolar's newest solar packages for rural Tanzanians include portable lights, cell phone charger and USB port for any external DC load. A smaller option includes 2 lights with a 5W solar panel and a larger option includes 4 lights and a 15W solar panel, both come with cell phone charging port and USB port.

During the course of this project TanzSolar has learned that charging cell phones is a large concern for many villagers. Cell phones have allowed Tanzanians new ways to earn a living, however most villagers live with no electricity, which makes keeping a cell phone charged a high maintenance task. With the new cell phone charging ports and USB included in the solar systems, villagers have an easier time charging their phone and can focus their energy more on what is needed to support themselves and their families. We look forward to seeing how our customers like the new package. We will share their feedback with you, our donors, who have helped make all this possible! Thank you.

Your donations have paid for half of the cost of a solar-powered light for a village family.  The villagers themselves pay for the other half, which encourages them to value and care for these lights.  TanzSolar is headquartered in Musoma, a town in Northern Tanzania conveniently located to thousands of rural households.  We offer ongoing product support, battery replacements and equipment repairs at or below cost.  We produce educational literature and are working to introduce the populace to solar electricity and efficient electric lighting.  Together we are bringing knowledge and light to rural Africa.

In addition you might like to take a look at our school project; www.globalgiving.org/projects/solar-schools4africa/.  This project will fund the electrification of a rural secondary school in northern Tanzania.

Again we thank you for your generous support.  Your donations have changed the lives of this large, hard-working rural population in Tanzania, and they are deeply appreciated.
