Summary

Spain needs to turn the attention to social entrepreneurs and put a lot of effort into supporting the creation and development of more social enterprises.The project has aspecial focus in participants with fewer opportunities from fringe communities, rural areas, geographical and economic obstacles. These young people needs entrepreneurship education the most. In these communities the percentage of early school leavers is much higher arriving to to twice as much as in other communities.

Challenge

The youth unemployment rate in Spain reached in the Second Quarter of 2013, 56% of all young people. The project targets the general population but a special focus will be given to participants with fewer opportunities from fringe communities, rural areas, geographical and economic obstacles. These young people needs entrepreneurship education the most. In these communities the percentage of early school leavers is much higher arriving to twice as much as in other communities.

1.Create a social entrepreneurship curriculum for secondary school level 2.Create an ecosystem for social entrepreneurship inside and outside the school, and explore digital learning 3.Build a competence based assessment 4.Train teachers and school directors 5.Develop a sustainable and scalable educational program 6.Built an international community of schools, using a common set of tools, methods and good practices

Long-Term Impact

Junior Achievement Canada and Junior Achievement UK have measured the impact of mini-company program: -More Young Enterprise alumni end up running their own business: 42% of alumni surveyed started firms compared to 26% in the control group of non-alumni. -Alumni companies employ more people: 11% have 51-99 employees compared to 9% of the control group. Two per cent of the alumni have 100-249 employees compared to none in the control group.
