To provide a training course for 48 orphanage and boarding school graduates in Moscow to help them make the difficult transition to adult life. The project will ensure orphanage and boarding school graduates benefit from the following training modules: Healthy Living (training in ways of preventing and overcoming pernicious habits and risky behavior, installment of values that lead to success in life); Civic Engagement (prevention of crime and resolution of conflicts, development of creativity).
In Russia the system of education and upbringing employed by most orphanages today often results in orphanage inmates becoming complacent and irresponsible. Many of orphanage and boarding school graduates tend to become "career dependants" as they refuse to do anything to support themselves and ensure their own survival upon leaving the walls of their institutions.
The current project will ensure this vulnerable group benefit from the following training modules: Healthy Living (trainings in ways of preventing and overcoming pernicious habits and risky behavior, installment of values that lead to success in life); and Civic Engagement (practical exercises and methods in human rights training, prevention of crime and resolution of conflicts, development of creativity and critical thinking).
Around 50 young orphans will be given skills of healthy living, civic engagement and social contacts that will help them make a successful transition to independent life. In addition, these skills will help young orphans to take a decent role in the community and start their own successful careers.
