Hope Academy invests heavily into the lives of 36 children in Soweto township, South Africa through intensive intervention over a number of years. The project believes in long term support and development of children who come from broken homes and live in a poverty stricken part of South Africa. We solve the problems many of these children face through our holistic program which mentors each young child, visits their homes, monitors their education and develops their football talent.
Hope Academy is designed as an elite holistic soccer program for poor and marginalized children in Soweto helping them develop in their football, faith and future (education). Many young children in Soweto grow up in poverty, with poor education and have negative role models. Hope Academy implements high investment in each child placed in the Academy, the Academy also impacts the whole community through sports programs and training, bringing transformation and hope to many.
Each child is placed in a development plan (DP) that oversees their progress in the Academy. Each coach invests time in the child, visits his family and monitors their progress at school. Local leaders are also trained to help in the community.
We believe in investing quality time and resources into the lives of our young children. This long term investment will bring long term transformational results in the future as our children will become leaders and role models in their families and surrounding communities. Hope Academy also develops the surrounding community through running soccer clinics, tournaments, training and education. One example - we have trained over 250 coaches in soccer coaching, HIV/AIDS and life-skills education.
