"an unique place for community living in India," a care home for disabled and destitute children, homeless women and the aged, where they live together as a family. 63 now aiming to make it for 200.
To provide home, food, clothing, care, education, health care and vocational training to the disabled and destitute children on streets in India. To provide health care to the poor in slums and villages esp. children, women and the aged. To educate children esp. drop out girls in surrounding villages. We have 60 disabled Orphan children in Snehalaya at present, when completed we aim to provide for 200 such children there and provide education and health care to the poor in villages.
The children get total care with love and dignity and an opportunity to become independent with hope for future. Children esp. girls from surrounding villages are provided free education and vocational training including uniform, books, transportation etc. in our main stream school in Snehalaya campus. Because of non-availability of electricity in villages, school going children are provided with solar lights to facilitate their education which also prevent accidents and pollution.
These children in Snehalaya will lead a life with love and dignity. The girls from villages will get educated, become independent which in turn will help women empowerment and future generations. Solar lights help prevent accidents and pollution which are common otherwise with use of kerosene oil, common mode for light in villages with non availability of electricity there most of the time.
