According to UNESCO's shared global education report from the year 2017 - 2018, 264 million children don't go to school. This affects the generations to come. Mathare has an estimated population of 600,000 - 800,000. People are living in small shacks made out of iron sheets and mud. Most children in Mathare slums are not getting an education and some are dropping out, mostly due to lack of enough funds in the family. Our project is working to fill that gap and advance a child's education
Rose CBO will help the vulnerable children get an education and see them through into secondary school without dropping out. The children who have not started school yet, we will initiate it. Slum to school will ensure the children and mothers are counseled and guided to be told the economic benefits of attending school and getting an education. As for the women, the ones who are not financially stable, we will be getting them business products to conduct businesses and earn extra income.
Slum to school aims to educate 100 children this year to next year. We are at 15 children currently in this new project. They will be able to grow and get better jobs or become entrepreneurs. This will help in achieving some of the SDG's goals, decent work and economic growth, good health and well being, quality education and no poverty.
