. The project aims at addressing the educational and poverty needs for women/girls victims of war to reduce the impact of poverty, tackle HIV/AIDS, promote women's rights by -Providing literacy and vocational skills of 300 rural women and girls -Establishing women/girls literacy and vocational training centres in five villages -Building capacity of women/girls to participate in leadership and decision-making

Challenge

Years of conflict have left the DRC deeply impoverished, without basic services and infrastructure. Education is one of the victims of armed conflicts in which DRC has faced for over a decade as shown by the UNICEF report 2012 Schools were destroyed; qualified teachers fled the conflict zones, children were forced out of school. Because of this, women and girls are most illiterate Without education and vocational skills, women/girls face great obstacles and bear a large burden of poverty

Solution

The project will 1.organize consultations with local community members and traditional leaders to select suitable venues and targets 2.Train 20 facilitators and select vocational skills tutors 3.Facilitate literacy classes to 300 women and girls 4. Conduct vocational trainings to 300 women and giles in Soap making, tailoring, ICT, food concervation 5. Conduct an appreciation ceremonies for learners and facilitators

Long-Term Impact

- Women and girls acquired professional knowledge. - Increased opportunities of women and girls for self-employment and incomes - Allowed girls and women to reduce the cycle of poverty and live independently from adverse social demands - Engage girls in income generating activities - Increased value placed on girl's education and literacy - Increased self-confidence and empowerment of women to bring about change in their lives, represent themselves,participate in civic affairs
