We want to train and empower 100 youths in different crafts with economic value. We also want to assist 90 impoverished young widows start a trade or improve on an existing one, thereby creating an avenue for them to sustain themselves and their young families. We truly believe, from experience, this will help curb unemployment, poverty, and social vices, currently very high, in the rural villages. This will also greatly reduce young widows economic dependence on mischievous men for survival.
Unemployment and poverty is very high in the community. As a result, impoverished youth are roaming about the community in hopelessness. Young widows are marginalized and taken advantage of, as a result of their economic dependence in a male dominated society. Already we are witnessing a lot of societal ills such as kidnappings, prostitutions, rapes, excessive drinking, and armed robberies as a result.
Our goal is to embark on a massive skills acquisition training programme and empowerment of these youths to keep them occupied and help become self-reliant as they create their own jobs rather than wallow in endless wait for employment. Our goal is to provide for the impoverished young widows an avenue to sustain themselves and their young family by providing seed money/grant for them to start a trade or improve an existing one.
100 youth from different communities trained and empowered in various crafts. The crafts include, electricians, auto mechanic, hair dressing, fashion & designing, cake & decoration, aluminium fabrication, computer training, plumbing, tiling, etc. 90 Impoverished young widows engaged in their business and earning income to feed their young families. Communities will benefit in the long term, since societal ills will be greatly reduced as poverty and hopelessness is gradually eradicated.
