Many young girls and boys in this community have very little knowledge about their rights to health. During the war many young girls got pregnant, because they did not know about any birth control methods. the fathers of their children many times were jobless and do not look after their children. These mothers are left to fend for their families and yet they themselves do not have any steady source of income. For some mothers after the war, the fathers moved out of the camp and went back to their ancestral homes, this left a lot of children who do not know who their fathers are or where they come from.

Gladish a nineteen year old girl, with two children is like many young girls in this community. She has been lucky to be educated on her rights by the health workers of Karin Children Medical Centre. Every Wednesday women like Gladish visit the Karin Health Centre for family planning services. Here Gladish visited the centre to look to change her current method of birth control. She previously received an injectable form of birth control lasting three months, but she found that it made her sick.

At the centre the health workers also teach women on better family planning methods. We are encouraging young adults to come for family planning services so that they make informed decisions on the family.
