The Project will promote women's empowerment; disseminate information or skills to advocate against gender-based violence or discrimination against women and enforcement of the child rights. Over 100 trained selected women in various skills for a period of 3 days with targets on poor, illiterate, marginalized and displaced women and youths. Priority to female-headed households (e.g single mothers) including widows, Mothers with children at high risk of various challenges faced by children.
Nigerian women suffer violations of their Human Rights through; Violence in the home, Sexual harassment at school and work, Rape and defilement, Forced childhood marriages, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Sexual violence in conflict situations, Discrimination against the girl-child and Enforcement of gender biased laws. Children on the other hand, have rights too that need to be protected but these rights are given little or no recognition making them vulnerable to inhuman treatments and abuse.
a. From the training, over 100 participants will be sufficiently aware and conscious about their democratic and human rights and thus women can enjoy social justice, reduce violence, torture, discrimination and disparity. b. Women's and Child's rights will be established and be honoured. c. As women's rights will be established they can participate in every decision-making affair and get involved in developmental activities. d. The participant will be conscious and sincere in their dealings.
a. This will establish dialogue and peace-building platforms for women and youths, community-wide peace-building process, to promote human rights, coexistence, trust and appreciation of diversity. b. Increase participation, awareness and influence of women and youth in policy dialogue with decision makers on issues on rights of women and children, issues impacting their socio-economic development, peace building and sustainability. c. To educate, promote women and child rights in Nigeria.
