The Send A seed Women's project Kabale Uganda is going on successfully and progressively and we have high hopes that it wil enable the economic emancipation of the women in the area it operates from.
The project was started by the Industrial Workers of the World Kabale Uganda with just three women (as seen in the photos) and now the number has grown to over 20 and we expect to enroll more once we get more funding to buy assorted seeds for the women peasants and farmers.
The purpose of the project is to enable women and their families hav enough seeds to serve as food for their homes as well as for sale for income generating purposes and then another equal amount as the woman was given to provide to a nother new woman entrant into the project.
We have so far done the following:
1.Two planting seasons utilised and two harvestings which gave satisfactory yield of harvests.
2.From the first three women, they have grown the seeds and in the order of sending seeds to other new fello women, the harvests have enable at least the number to become 20.
3.A volunteer Agricultural Officer is helping the women on how to make good natural organic fertilisers and organic pest killers to enable them have bigger crop/seed yields
4.Several visitors have visited the project and learned from it and advised accordingly as well.
Thank you.
