Hallo our Global Giving partners,

On behalf of the supported orphans, their caretakers, teachers and the community we thank you for the support that you have enabled us to support the ongoing target of 400 orphans. Currently since the inception of this project in Global Giving in 2010, 5 orphans have had the chance to attend ECD (Early Childhood Education) despite their financial constrains.

During the month of December through to January 2011, HWF (The NGO running this project) was able to enroll 5 orphans to ECD classes in Kiangoso Primary School. This school was chosen by HWF due to the fact that it is in the area where more orphans reside thereby convenient for the orphans when walking to and from the school. The orphans selected this Quarter were younger with an average age of 8 yrs .

A Preparatory meeting with the School Head, ECD teachers, and the caretakers of the orphans, village elders and the community was held in order to find ways in which the orphans may be assisted in their education. In the meeting it was agreed that due to the fact that donations may not be consistent throughout the year, the orphans enrolling to the ECD classes would still be allowed to continue with their education even in time of limited funds and the school would be paid the balance  when funds are available thanks to our Global giving donors.

The $ 51.00 equivalent to 4,010.00 disbursements catered for ECD fees for 5 children for a period of 1 term (equivalent to 3 months) for the months; February, March and May (the month of April is a school holiday in Kenya). The orphans reached were; Doreen Nyarangi -8 years, Rita Moraa 6 years, Davinah Barongo -10 years, Ian Ogera -6years and Edwin Mokua -7years (two boys and three girls) who at the moment are total orphans.

Last year December with your continued contributions of $ 85.00,  3 orphan children were selected and provided with head start supporting materials and fees for the 1st term of school. The 3 orphans joined the ECD classes on 5th January 2011 as scheduled at Kiangoso Primary school. With the current contribution of $ 51.00,  5 orphans are scheduled to join the same school in 21st February, 2011.A total of 8 orphans will have been reached by the end of February, which is a great number for a start of this project and by your continued support we will by the end of this year have met the goal of supporting 400 orphans.

The Project report location is Kiangoso Primary School,Manga District,Kenya.

Once again Thank you so much
