In the state of West-Bengal, NLR has identified 297 disabled persons affected by leprosy, living in 14 self-settled colonies and 79 persons living in scattered villages. NLR is encouraging self-care practice in groups.
38 ‘Self-care Groups’ have been developed to practice self-care. Besides counseling and training in ‘Self-care’, NLR has also provided 192 protective footwears, 8 crutches, wheelchairs, tricycles and 8 goggles. Not only support is provided to the people affected but to their dependent 262 children also, who have started going to school.
All these interventions have led to healing of 76% of planter ulcers, better mobility, better quality of life to people affected and encouragement to children to further their studies.
We have received many encouraging letters. Kindly let us know as to how do you like our intervention and how we can improve our support to most marginalized persons.
WITH YOUR HELP, WE ARE SURE THAT WE CAN GIVE BETTER LIFE TO THE PEOPLE AFFECTED BY LEPROSY AND THEIR DEPENDENTS
