The project intervention touches 50 resource poor widows and HIV victims of Mailam and Vanur block, Villupuram district. They will be trained on 4 days pre project implementation training on selection of innovative small income generating program marketing potentiality, local environment and so on. There after they will be distributed Rs. 5,000 (Small business) and Rs. 7,500 (Tailoring) o start a small Income Generation Program (IGP) that is locally suitable for the women beneficiaries.
The dalit women dont have any basic records to avail the free schemes from the Government, neither have forum to voice for them, and nor they have the cooperation to fight with the Government to win their rights. They wish to take up alternative livelihoods, however they lack financial sources, for which the IGP is planned for them. All the proposed IGP activities are rural based, raw materials are locally available in their reach and the products will be sold at their villages or nearby ones.
This projects provides a way for the poor beneficiaries to lead a good life. They can ensure their three times food, and run business smoothly by two or three consecutively years. They will look in to their family development, children education, there after they will not be looking back, but look happy and confident. The original beneficiaries will help others by their prompt repayment of actual loan. So the loan plus repayment chain will take the project in to long run, does not put an end.
The beneficiaries will empower life and support families. They are freed from local money lenders financial harassment. They are removed from labour exploitation, sexual harassment. She will spare more time with their children, sent to school. Monthly saving will allow her to meet urgent requirement . The beneficiaries will have the capacity to expand business. They dont have to depend of anyone for their livelihood, rather stand on their own leg.
