Project will contribute to delivery of refugees education promise outlined in the Global Compact on Refugees. It will ensure return of refugee children to learning, reinforce the value of education and provide education benefits to those who are likely to be left furthest behind. The project will equip sixty (60) teachers in Kampala Capital City with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to ensure refugee children are able to learn and acquire the education of their life.
Absence of training and orientation of teachers on refugee children specific needs is a big challenge for their learning,recovery and thrive again. Teachers are not trained or oriented on how to support refugee children in schools to forget the past bad things, provide psycho socia support and social emotional learning. They lack skills on reduction of resistance and prejudices from host pupils and teachers towards refugee children and language barrier
The project will train 60 teachers in Kampala Capital City with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to ensure refugee children are able to learn and acquire the education of their life. Teachers will be trained in Refugee children protection services, Refugee children's psycho social well-being; Support refugee children to learn the new language, Develop skills to decrease anxiety, stress, depression among Refugee Children and Reduce violence and indiscipline among refugee children
The project will support about one thousand (1000) refugee children to recover, learn and thrive again. In school they will be prepared to develop mentally and physically. Also they will make friends, their imagination is stimulated, and their memory and communication skills will get better. In the end it will ensure they make meaning of the adversity they have experienced, as well as to find purpose in life again.
