Ms Bimala Manandhar, aged 47
To all our supporters, thank you very much for your contributions! With your continued support we are able to continue providing cancer screening to the women of Nepal!
The most recent community to benefit from the screening program is the Jana Chikitsalaya community in Nhyokha, Kathmandu. Our mobile team travelled to the location on the 24th September 2011 and were able to screen 184 women for cervical cancer. Of these women, 29 were provided medication for infection, 19 were test positive for cervical pre-cancer and 5 were diagnosed with uterine prolapse.
Breast cancer education and screening was provide for 186 women at the same location, and four women were referred for follow-up testing after breast anomalies were identified.
One screening recipient, Ms Bimala Manandhar, aged 47, expressed her gratitude to the team:
“The cervical and breast screening program was very effective to our community. So I am very happy and thankful to the NNCTR team.”
