Fighting Malnutrition in Tanzanian Schools

Dear friends,

I am writing to thank you again for your support of the School Lunch Program at Losinoni Primary School in northern Tanzania.

With your support, we have been able to provide six weeks’ worth of lunches for students at the school, allowing them to better focus while in the classroom, and dramatically boosting attendance.

A recent article in the Arusha Times in Tanzania blamed poor scores on national examinations on poor nutrition in schools. The article pin-pointed the region where Losinoni is located as a region in great need of school lunch programs. You can read the article here: http://allafrica.com/stories/201102071021.html. (Take a look at the end of the article for the mention of poor nutrition.) Thank you for providing a bright spot in an under-nourished part of Tanzania! Your support is truly making a difference in the lives and educational futures of the students at Losinoni!

With much appreciation,

Ashley Shuyler
