School to Educate Girls from Villages in India

by Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity

As part of our effort to maintain the high quality of projects on our site, GlobalGiving regularly sends representatives into the field to visit our partner organizations and monitor the projects that are listed on GlobalGiving.

GlobalGiving representatives visited Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity’s projects at the Snehelaya campus in India in 2015. During the visits, a number of concerns were identified, particularly with the children's home and healthcare center projects.

Due to the seriousness of the concerns raised GlobalGiving has removed Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity from GlobalGiving's websites. This means that the organization can no longer receive donations through these platforms. Some of the concerns raised were in regards to a lack of policies and procedures to protect the organization’s constituents and employees. It should be noted that these concerns relate to the children's home, not the school on the Snehelaya campus.

Although Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity has indeed done great work in India, GlobalGiving has taken these steps to encourage Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity to make necessary improvements, and to ensure integrity of our vetting process.

GlobalGiving takes the site visits very seriously: we consider them a part of our vetting and review process, and require them as part of our terms and conditions for nonprofits to join the platform.

We are committed to ensuring that our donors have a meaningful giving experience on GlobalGiving. If you are unsatisfied with your donation to this project, we can offer you the GlobalGiving Guarantee. The GlobalGiving Guarantee will come in the form of a gift certificate equal to the value of the original donation, which you are invited to contribute to another project on the site.

If you have any questions or would like to invoke the GlobalGiving Guarantee please contact GlobalGiving at inthefield@globalgiving.org

Dear friends,

Our children in School continue to make progress. They had first semester exams recently and enjoyed Deepawali festivities. As every year they organised and participated actively for Sneh-Diwas celebrations on 14th Nov.

Sneh-Diwas celebrated in Snehalaya to commemorate as Bal Diwas (Childrens Day) remembering Pt. Jawahar lal Nehru, first Prime Minister of Independent India popularly known as "Chacha Nehru". Mr. Mukesh Tyagi, Principal RJIT, students and staff joined us and played skits, dance, songs and drama making our children happy. They also distributed clothes, toys and sweets to our children. Our Manisha, Shiv kumar, Dheeraj from Snehalaya Special Need school and many girls from our main stream School presented dance and songs. Every one was surprised with skills and performance of our children esp. the special need children.
Mela had many eatery stalls, games, quiz and drawing competitions and winners received prizes at the end. It was a happy occasion for our children. RJIT has promised us to come to Snehalaya frequently and many of their students promised to come and play with our children every week. Children from our School excited to have received invitation from RJIT to visit them and BSG Academy, which they will be undertaking soon to learn more about Border Security Force of India with museum, dogs training school etc. there. We wish other institutions and students join us too in same way, thanks to Mr. Tyagi and RJIT.

Please consider helping us educate more girls from villages in our school. We have 95 girls but only six have been sponsored. Please consider sponsoring education of a girl in our school by paying $15 PM regularly, so that we can take more girls in coming session. This is right time also as today 1st Dec. is GivingTuesday and your recurring donations on GlobalGiving are being matched and get doubled. Hence please donate and start a new regular donation today itself.

Please do not hesitate to write to me at snehalaya.gwalior@gmail.com for any questions or further information. Thanks again, with regards and best wishes,

Republic day celebrated by our children
Republic day celebrated by our children

Dear friends,
Thanks a lot for your support helping us to educate girls from villages in India.

I will like to inform you with recent updates. 66th Republic day celebrated in Snehalaya by our children with school staff and children from nearby Govt. Schools there at same time when Mr. Barrack obama, President of USA did so in Delhi. However all cultural programmes cancelled in honour of Sr. Meenoo, resident child in Snehalaya, who unfortunately left us on the day after a long stay in hospital. Shradhanjali and tributes paid to her in stead. All children were distributed sweets at the end.

Also fifteen of us participated in Mumbai Marathon on 18th Jan.2015 raising nearly twelve laks for children of Snehalaya and to educate girls from surrounding villages there. Thank you all supporters, donors and fellow runners.

We are much obliged of your support helping us and hope for extended support to educate more girls there in our school in the new session. Now children are preparing for their year end exams. and we are doing so for news admissions for next session.

Please spread the word by informing all your friends, colleagues, associates and relatives about these children and our project and help us to educate more girls from villages there in India. Please write to me for any questions or further information at gwalior.hospital@care4free.net
