A group of Charlotte kids took a brief break from their summer vacation this year to volunteer their services for Liberian children in need! We hosted our Summer Back to School Supplies Drive in September for our beneficiaries in Liberia. We collected 135 backpacks and tons of school supplies, exceeding our 100 backpacks target! Yay! What was most remarkable about the campaign was that more than 20 kids from Charlotte, ranging from ages 5 to 18, volunteered their time to ensure the school supplies were collected and packaged to send to Liberian kids in need. The school supplies will directly be used by our beneficiaries, most of whom cannot afford the basic necessities for school.
Smile Liberia currently fully sponsors 250 elementary school children, from six community schools in Liberia. Our goal is to fully sponsor the education of 500 school children by 2020, and to build a world-class STEM school for elementary school children living in poverty. Thanks for all the support in helping us meet our goal!
