This project will supply daily, in-school meals for over 20 children in a Nairobi primary school. Children in this area of Nairobi often cannot depend on consistent meals. This project will ensure children receive at least one nutritious meal every day during the week, and will ensure these students stay in school.
The students of our target school are also primarily orphans or raised by single parents and so they often cannot depend on consistent meals at home. When they cannot depend on food at home or school they will often skip school to beg or find food elsewhere. This not only prevents children from learning, but also opens them up to exploitation when begging. Additionally, without adequate nutrition their learning outcomes are negatively affected.
This project will provide in-school meals and snacks to the children of Penuel Education Center. By providing meals in school we eliminate the need for children to skip school to beg or seek food. These meals will also ensure that children are provided adequate nutrition during the week.
This project will ensure that children stay in school and receive a quality primary education. It will also ensure that children receive appropriate nutrition. Through this project we will help eliminate the long-term health effects of malnutrition, and improve the educational performance of these children.
