The R.N. Virmani Memorial Endowment.

Report for the year 2010

The Dhanpatmal Virmani Education Trust started the R. N. Virmani Endowment in the year 2002. The purpose of scheme was to award scholarships to Indian Nationals for graduate studies in all fields, irrespective of caste, creed or community and to encourage meritorious and needy students to pursue higher studies. Those who come from a family with an annual income of less than Ps. 1,00,000/- US $ 2,200, are amongst the top five in the final class XII Board Examination and get admission into any professional or technical college are eligible.

The scheme has been very successful with the formation of a permanent corpus. The original donation of $ 15,000/- was made by Dr. Renu Virmani Finn, daughter of Mr. R. N. Virmani, her family and friends. We have received a total of Rs. 46Lac US $ 102222 so far as contributions upto 31/12/06, and have been invested in Govt. of India Bonds. Our aim is now to build up a corpus of Ps. 1, 00,00,000 US $ 2,00,000 so that more students can benefit form this scheme.

Until June,2010 the following students were covered by the scheme.

Tech., (Engineering) 10. Vishwas Miglani B. Sc., (Hons) 11. Deepak Parashar Bio Tech., 12. Ankur Sharma Chartered Accountancy 13.Joginder Rana(Engineering) 14. Harsh Kumar( Chartered Accountancy) 15. Gaurav Sachdeva( Chartered Accountancy) 16.Lal ji Yadav(Chartered Accountancy) 17. Vikram Mishra (Engineering) 18.Ramesh Joshi (Engineering) 19. Subodh Thakur( Engineering) 20. Deepak Kumar( Chartered Accountancy) Out of the above students the following 7 students have passed out. 1. Raj Kumar 2. Dinesh Kumar Rana 3. Tarun Yadav 4. Nitin chadha 5. Vishwas Miglani 6. Deepak Kumar 7. Ashok Kumar Siddartha Kain who was doing B.Tech. ( Engineering) had expired in the year 2008.

During the financial year 2005-06 Rs. 78,000/- US $ 1,735 was paid out as scholarships. In the years 2006-07,2007-08,2008-09,2009-10Rs. 1,21,000/-,2,44,000/-,192,000/-and 1,98,000/-were paid respectively to the scholarship awardees.

There has been a marked improvement in the students’ performance since the induction of the RNV scholarship program. Details of activities of the R. N. Virmani Memorial Endowment were put on the website of and we will try to keep this website updated. The donor has the option to continue to donate through Global Giving.

Our mission is to work relentlessly towards the upliftment of the economically deprived sections of society by operating 2 schools, the Adult Education centers and awarding scholarships to meritous and needy students to pursue higher studies in colleges in India.

Raj Kumar comes from an extremely poor family. He passed out of school in 2001 securing 98%. He has completed his B Com (Hons) and is pursuing his Chartered Accountancy course. M/sD.P.Khosla & Co. under whom he is doing his articles have given him an excellent report. He has passed his CA PE II group II with 67.33% in Cost Accounting, with 76% in financial management and 67% in Information Technology. He has completed his Chartered Accountancy in the year 2008 and has joined a Government Company and is drawing Rs.35, 000/-per month. The scholarship was a immense help to him, other wise he would not completed his C.A. In his own words “thanks for proving helping hand to complete C.A course”. He wrote a thanks letter to the chairman mentioning.” I am extremely thanks to all the members of the trust for providing `` me the financial support actually when I needed much” Ashok Kumar's father is a constable in the Delhi police, his mother expired a few years back, he has three brothers who are studying. He passed out of school in 2004-05 and joined Punjab University for his BE (Electronics & Communications). He has passed out in the year 2009 securing very high marks. We have a plan to award scholarships at least four students this year. We thank all our well wishers and supporters for their donations and request them to also help us with constructive ideas and thoughts to take this program forward.
