A A Progress Report ending August, 2013
“Vi " Virmani Trust is working for a life of Dignity and self Reliance for the Disadvantaged”
With a view to achieve the above objective, the Trust started the R. N. Virmani Memorial Endowment in the year 2002-03, to award scholarships to Indian Nationals for graduate studies in all fields, irrespective of caste, creed or community. The objective is to encourage and help meritorious and needy students from low income families to pursue higher studies in Colleges/Universities in India. Students passing out from XIIth standard from Dhanpatmal Virmani Sr.Sec. School and who come from families having an income of less than Rs 1, 00,000/- annually, and are amongst the top five in the 12th Sr. Sec. Examination in school and get admission in recognized college are eligible. Preference is given to students getting into Professional/Technical Colleges that is, Medical, Engineering/Technology and Management.
The Scholarship scheme has been very successfully implemented with the formation of a permanent corpus. The original donation of $15,000 was made by Dr. Renu Virmani Finn, daughter of Mr. R. N. Virmani .In addition the other members of her family and friends have also made handsome donation, in all we have received a total of Rs. 50.96 lakhs so far as contribution up to 31-08-2013 which have been Invested in Govt. of India bonds and Banks. Out of interest received from the investment, the scholarship amount is given to the awardees. Our aim is to increase this corpus to Rs.1 crore to award more scholarships. Under the scheme, a student who is doing Engineering is getting Rs. 2,000/- per month and who is doing Chartered Accountants course is getting Rs. 1,000/- per month.
So far, there are 28 recipients selected on merit cum merit basis, have been benefited Majority of them after passing out their respective courses, they have established very well in life with an immense sense of gratitude to the success the Trust for its concrete help to them.

At present, we are paying scholarships to 09 students, 3 are doing C.A, 5 are doing Engineering and one is doing medical course. Details of current recipients are as under:-
1. Ramesh Joshi B. Tech Malout Instt. Of Magt., Muktsar(Pb)
The student is a pass out of Dhanpatmal Virmani Sr. Sec. School of 2009. After completing B.Tech, he aims to do M.Tech. He belongs to a lower income group family of six members. He has stated “I am getting R.N.Virmani scholarship since 2009 to complete my B.Tech degree. This scholarship is beneficial for my career making.”
