Successful Level 1 and Practicum Trainings

Masonry hands-on practice
Masonry hands-on practice

Thank you for supporting ambitious men and women in Haiti who work hard to learn skills in the construction trades so they can find work, provide for their families, and build a stronger Haiti.

Over these past months we had a number of Level 1 (introductory) classes and launched our Practicum program to give our graduates more hands-on experience.

  • Welding Level 1: Nine (9) out of the 10 students that started the class passed and received a certificate. The tenth student had to drop out due to medical issues, and we have invited him back when he is healthy. Our Haiti-based team planned, organized, and led the class - a big accomplishment.
  • Masonry Level 1: 15 students were selected out of 22 applicants, with 12 receiving a certificate. As part of the planning of the class, numerous improvements were made to the curriculum and student manual.
  • Welding Level 1 (second): currently in process. Due to limitations with our welding equipment we have six (6) students in this class learning the fundamentals of arc welding.
  • Practicum program: we launched our "hands-on, apprenticeship-type" training program to help alumni gain more real-world experience on actual construction work sites. All the documentation, programming, and structure for the program was built this quarter and tested. Numerous projects have been used as Practicum trainings, from masonry walls to electrical installations to plumbing.

We are very thankful for joining us in this work!
