In Kenya Africa, hunger is a constant crisis that prevent children to go to school, chronic pain gnawing away at hungry children. We must put an end to starvation in Kenya and we can't do it without you. Right now, millions of children in rural schools from poor families need emergency food assistance to survive and continue with education. YIDP has many proven ways to help stop hunger in Africa and beyond.
Without food, many children living in rural areas in Kenya are unable to focus in class. This is largely due to the challenges faced by the disadvantaged communities living in the slums and rural areas. Absenteeism due to inability of schools/parents to provide food, repeated illness as a result of poor hygiene and sanitation; no access to books, learning material; limited access to sanitary pads.
School feeding programs shall fight malnutrition by ensuring children get their daily nutritious food so they can start the day well fed and ready to learn. We teach parents improved agricultural practices so they can increase yields and provide more food for their children after school as well. The parents and teachers shall grow and provide the quality protein maize that the porridge for the feeding program is made from, fostering community ownership and long-term sustainability.
By feeding 500 poor children, we will encourage them to stay in school and focus on their studies. This will in turn help them to achieve better results and progress in their education . Daily nutrition helps them to stay healthy and grow strong. Each time a feeding program introduced, school's enrollment doubles, daily attendance increases, and absenteeism decreases and performance rise and they will achieve their dreams.
