This project will save 'Parni PLUS', Russia's leading media outlet produced by LGBTQ people for LGBTQ readers, from dying. It will enable our growth into a strong independent media resource covering all the issues that matter to our audience. It will help us strengthen our contribution into the fight for LGBTQ and human rights in Russia. It will facilitate our projects and initiatives targeted at HIV prevention and providing access to PrEP among LGBTQ people and high risk groups.
Many times we have had to save our website from shutting down, largely due to lack of funding. There have also been attempts at banning our website due to Russian policies of state-sustained homophobia. 'Parni PLUS' is the only socio-educational LGBTQ media resource in Russia whose annual audience reaches 3.5 million people, but right now, due to yet another financial struggle, we are at risk of ceasing to exist, leaving our audience without access to essential, life-saving information.
With the help of the funds donated by you through this platform we will be able to: - to recruit a team of authors and editors to keep our readers better and faster informed about everything related to LGBTQ rights, health and lifestyles; - to broaden the range of topical issues and urgent problems investigated and covered by our website so that we could increase the impact of our media outlet; to extend our ongoing support of local projects and initiatives aimed to help LGBTQ communities.
With the right support we can evolve into a strong independent media outlet which will serve as a link between Russian and global LGBTQ communities, which will offer full informational support to Russian LGBTQ people, and which will contribute to the fight for equal rights for LGBTQ people in Russia. We can also increase our outreach. More people will have access to resources on HIV, PrEP and safe sex. More people will be aware of LGBTQ activism and the progress in our fight for equality.
