Challenge

Each day, an alarming number of animal abuse or neglect cases occur across the country. Many times, local shelters and humane societies are forced to cover the cost to medically treat these abused animals, and, as a result, shelters accrue high -- sometimes overwhelming -- medical bills. The Second Chance fund gives abused and neglected animals across the country a second chance at life.

Solution

American Humane Association provides Second Chance financial assistance to nearly 100 organizations to assist with the care of nearly 1,000 animals a year including cats, dogs, horses, donkeys, goats, pigs, parrots, cows, sheep and llamas.

Long-Term Impact

The Second Chance Fund helps save the lives of hundreds of animals each year and helps provide financial resources to nearly 100 shelters throughout the US who care for and find homes for these abused animals.
