We have actively participated in public meetings with the Mexican Congress about modifying the General Health Law to guarantee a proper access to treatment. Additionally, we have been lobbying with relevant actors and stakeholders.
We had a meeting with the Subsecretary of Health, Dr. Hugo López-Gateel, where we established a work team composed of health officials and FUMENI. The team's goal is to identify and eliminate barriers to access to treatment.
We established an alliance with PAHO Mexico
We established an alliance with Be the Match Mexico to support Mexican girls and boys that need a bone marrow transplant
Thanks to the donors, Fumeni carried out activities in four areas:
1. With girls, boys and their families to educate them about their healt right as a human right. We hold a workshop with children and their families about their right to health. 70 people participated.
2. We were able to meet with decision makers of the Ministry of Health to expose them the serious situation of children with immunodeficiencies because they do not have access to treatment and their risk of dying. We had meetings with officials of the Ministry of Health: Subsecretary Dra. Asa Cristina Laurell, Subsecretary Dr. Hugo López-Gatell, Secretary Dr. Santos Preciado Consejo de Salubridad General, Dr. Ruy López Ridaura, Health Director
3. We had meetings with decision makers of private companies to raise awareness about the situation of patients with immunodeficiencies.
4. We produced educational materials for access to gammaglobulin treatmen
