Save lives of family violence victims in Serbia

Summary

This project will provide free legal aid to the victims of family violence considering that researches show that legal aid to victims is the most influential support service in lowering the rate of domestic violence. Considering that our or organization has established network of lawyers in Serbia and has provided this kind of support this is proven to be effective. In addition, our organization will continue to to save lives by sheltering women and children that are escaping for severe violence

Challenge

Domestic violence is a pervasive issue in Serbia - only during first 8 months of this year 30 women in Serbia died as a result of domestic violence/ more than were killed during whole last year. CAFV provides shelter and support services to victims of family violence. CAFV also provides legal, social and psychological support services to victims in need. Goal of this project is to provide adequate support to victims of violence in Serbia in order to enable them to find the way to end violence.

Solution

Project is based on the idea to provide adequate support to each victim. CAFV will provide legal aid to victims to secure their protection and independence. Research shows that legal aid to victims is the most influential support service in lowering the rate of domestic violence. In addition, shelter will be provided to women and children victims of violence that are in need for that kind of protection in the existing safe house. Psychological and social support will be also provided.

Long-Term Impact

Negative consequences of family violence affect every aspect of the lives of victims but domestic violence have a pronounced negative effect on social and economic development, as well as on the overall state of security in the community, a fact that is most worrying in the context of the development of children, who are victims both in a direct and indirect sense. In addition to providing way out for victims, CAFV will continue on creating environment that does not support family violence.
