2016 is off to a positive start with 9 Griffon vulture eggs and one lesser kestrel egg being incubated in our incubation center. The laying of eggs is just the first in a long a perilous process of incubation, fledging and rearing the chicks prior to being able to release them into the wild. Often, eggs are not viable and do not hatch or chicks do not survive. Please send your positive thoughts our way for these eggs to successfully hatch so that we can contribute more individuals to this critically important wildlife conservation project.
In addition, we received the Israel Nature and Parks Authority’s report for 2015 regarding the status of birds of prey in Israel. The annual count shows a reduction from last year. Poisonings are still the main cause of decline and 23 vultures died of poisoning in Israel during 2015. The Israel Nature and Parks Authority continues to make great efforts to locate and bring them to justice the persons responsible for this.
Thank you for your continued support of this very important wildlife conservation project.
