This project will provide children with 350 school kits at Al-Fath school in Al-Qanawis district - Al-Hodeida city - Yemen. The kits will contain the most needed stationary for students. Due to the current conflict in Yemen, teachers has not received their salaries since 2015. Therefore, the project is also designed to provide 7 teachers with monthly salary of 50$ for 8 months. Moreover, personal protection equipment will be distributed to take the necessary measures against COVID-19 pandemic.
Education sector suffers from poor educational services in Yemen principally in Al-Hodeida. Obstacles lie on the discontinuation of government teachers' salaries, and large displacement of families which made a great pressure on the small schools with limited number of classes available in the area. Many displaced students and children have stopped attending schools because of the poverty and lack of school stationaries. Moreover, teachers have not been receiving their salaries since 2015.
Building for Development Foundation aims to provide 350 students with school kits consisting of bags, notebooks, pencils, pencils and stationery tools necessary so that children can enroll in school, register and continue their education. In addition, the project aims to provide 8 teachers with 50 dollars per month in incentives so that teachers are able to fulfill their teaching roles. Moreover, personal protective equipment will be provided to all children and teachers as COVID-19 measure.
The project will leave an impact on 350 children by giving them an chance to complete their education and secure more bright future. In addition to that, poor families will not straggle with securing their children's education expenses, which will lead to less children labor. Teachers also will be supported by providing them with incentives. This will reflect on their families which rely on these teacher for living expenses. Moreover, teachers will be more motivated to commit to their roles.
