Indian women have mentality to ignore their health and most of them are suffering from cervical or breast cancer. If cancer is detected in preliminary stage it is curable. We want to organize multiple awareness programs in Pune district for women in urban as well as rural areas.
One of the most common problems is that majority of cancer cases in India are brought to the notice of the doctor quite late and are thus advanced at presentation. The reason behind situation is the unawareness, negligence and poor availability of preventive services to the masses. The worst sufferers and a disadvantaged section of our society are women. While cervix cancer is number one killer in rural parts of the country, breast cancer is a biggest threat for urban women.
Awareness programs will be organized regularly to educate the women that if detected early cancer can be cured or at least controlled for quite some time. We will organize camps, rallies, distribute pamplets and organize booths/stalls in various parts of the city. In rural areas we will take help from local Doctors, Reporters, Grampanchayat, Jilha Parishad and other local governance for identifying places and target groups.
Due to such awareness programs women from rural areas they will understand the symptoms of cancer. They will know if they will occur any symptom where to contact for detection and further treatment. They also can spread the knowledge they will get from such programs to their communities.
