Dear Kind Hearts

Greetings from SANKALP team

The session for 2012-2013 ended on 12th April & the new session starts on 5th June after summer break. As committed, the progress of individual education plan (IEP) for each child was carefully monitored & reviewed in each recommended area and quarterly progress was recorded at micro level. The results have been very promising for all the 24 children. The overall achievements in the session gone bye have been very satisfying as well as encouraging for all of us at SANKALP. The main reason for improvement in the condition of children can be attributed to the fact that Sankalp was able to employ professionally qualified speech & physio therapists besides special educators. This was possible only due to YOUR help & support.

During the last session besides the IEP/therapies, children took part in following activities/events:

In-house festival celebrations/events                              -                       5

Outdoor events                                                            -                       3

Eating out                                                                   -                       3

Events organized by Sankalp                                        -                       2

Participation in events by other organizations                 -                       12

Organizations/club who visited Sankalp                         -                       3

With the availability of funds, a sensory integration room with physiotherapy unit was setup at Sankalp on 17th March, a week ahead of targeted schedule. An experienced therapist to provide sensory integration and physiotherapy has also been appointed. It will now be possible to provide in-house speech, sensory integration and physio therapy every day for two hours each to the needy children. These therapies along with special educators working at SANKALP will certainly speed up rehabilitation process for all the children in the coming days.

Though the progress has been noted in all children in varying degree, a specific case of 21 year old boy Hitesh having a mental age of only 4 years is worth mentioning. He suffers from mental disabilities & speech impairment. We are happy to inform that Hitesh has now learnt counting up to 5 & has also showed improvement in speech besides actively participating in other activities. We are confident that Hitesh would succeed in fulfilling his parent’s wish. It is YOU who has made this possible.

We cannot but say a big THANK YOU for your kindness generosity, belief in our cause and choosing to invest it in our project. We are sure that as long as we have your support we will continue getting good results in our endeavour. We assure you that the received from you will be utilized only for the cause that we are espousing and YOU will know what YOUR donation has helped fund, what accomplishments we have achieved from time to time.

Let’s share what one of the Parent Pravinbhai Chauhan has to say (translated in English):

“It gives me pleasure to inform that Sankalp institution is working hard without any kind of expectations and we are grateful for the respect they are giving to our mentally challenged children & we hope that Sankalp is proved to be the best institution.” - Pravinbhai Chauhan

Before signing off, we at SANKALP once again sincerely thank YOU all kind hearted donors for your generous support. We are sure SANKALP will continue to receive your encouragement to enable it bring meaningful change in the lives of many more developmentally disabled/underprivileged children in Vadodara, India.
