Dear Kind Hearts

Greetings from SANKALP team

It is very encouraging to note that the individual education plan (IEP) for the children being implemented by SANKALP’s special educators as per the recommendation of the clinical psychologist is showing good results for most of the children. The progress recorded till last quarter with respect to the condition of children is as high as 100% improvement towards the targets fixed in certain activities whereas in few areas the progress has fallen short of the target fixed and continuous efforts are needed. This is a clear indication that the approach being followed is correct and we are certainly moving in the right direction in providing qualitative improvement in children’s condition.

SANKALP’s immediate need is a physiotherapy unit for undertaking physical rehabilitation of needy children. We are waiting for getting necessary funds to set up an in-house facility and are hoping that it will be in place very soon. With improvement in fund availability we have also decided to increase frequency of providing speech therapy to the children from presently alternate days to daily.

As a part of awareness campaign about SANKALP’s activities within the citizens of Vadodara and also to raise some funds towards meeting its running expenses, we organized an event on Saturday 1st December, 2012. The event started with a prayer and a dance presented by SANKALP’s children which was followed by a rendition of popular Gujarati songs by a renowned singing group. Local TV news and FM Radio channel promoted the event as our Media & Radio partners. This event was a great success in meeting both its objectives to a considerable extent and was well liked by the entire audience.

On the occasion of “World Disability Week”, United Way of Baroda organized a cultural program rendered by disable persons from various centers of Vadodara on 8th December, 2012. The dance performance given by our children in this event was well applauded by the audience. SANKALP’s children also participated in the sports event organized by Bal Bhawan, another similar organization on 16th Dec. in which two of SANKALP’s children won prizes. Photographs and TV interviews of these events can be seen on our website

We cannot thank our donors enough for their generous support to our humanitarian efforts. We hope you all will continue to encourage this project as it brings hope and smile to the lives of many developmentally disabled/ underprivileged children in Vadodara, India. We are confident that with the support of international philanthropic community we will definitely accomplish our goal of rehabilitating developmentally disabled underprivileged children as per our vision.

I’m always available for clarifications if any.
