To promote health living and prevent communicable disease outbreaks to 500 people living in slums of Kampala where, during the rainy season, there are heavy floods and this will be solved through health educating the communities, who are mostly single mothers and involving them in cleaning the areas and opening the drainage systems.
Lubaga South Constituency has eight parishes, mostly slums, with high population living in unhygienic environment, During the rainy season the people living in these slums are exposed to communicable diseases like diarrhea, malaria and others, single mothers and their children are mostly affected, when they leave to work children drink unclean water which is not boiled. Slum houses are mostly rentals and people keep changing places, this means periodic health education is needed to update them
We health educate communities about health measures that protect them from communicable disease outbreak. We provide free services in Counseling, malaria testing, educate about good nutrition so that their bodies are health and strong to fight disease. We also engage in cleaning activities with the communities and clearing drainages to avoid stagnant water
We shall first identify and train village health teams who will continue orientation followups to the communities and provide door to door home visits to ensure a health community, we shall from time to time continue updating them with knowledge and skills and they will be writing feedback quarterly reports. We shall continue with quarterly outreach visits to the communities in these slum areas 500 people living in these slums will be save from communicable disease outbreaks.
