Dear Friends
Real Stories Gallery Foundation is so thrilled to share our news... We have just finished creating a survivor-led art installation (video art, mannequin sculptures, poetry, photographic collages). And, we are beginning to work on the accompanying online exhibition catalogue found at http://tristansmoon.org
Your gift has been remarkable. It has allowed us to strengthen the advocacy voice calling for the creation of places that are, in truth, safe for young male survivors to run to and to grow up in.
The boys strolled into my life, just like that, with their art and poetry. It compelled me to feel, to imagine and to reach out and do something to raise awareness in the only way I am able and know how as a mother of four kids, a Social Anthropologist and an Exhibition Designer.
The online exhibition catalogue is an experiment. The survivors voices are being strengthened and validated by the courageous professionals from across disciplines who are coming forward to share their research, knowledge and feelings.
Thank you for believing it is possible to shift cultural perceptions and responses to young males whose lives are changed forever by sexualized violence and neglect in the heart of our communities.
May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family and everyone who loves you a safe and happy holiday.
With friendship
Rachel
