This project will help rural children, women and indirectly the whole family in the rural Swartland region of the Western Cape of South Africa with counselling and social emotional services through the help of a full time Christian Counselor, Social Worker and Substance Abuse Counselor that will serve the rural community between a Family Resource Center located in a small farming community between wheat fields, the farms and multi-grade rural schools.
There is a gap in the social services when it comes to rural areas. The towns keep the social workers so busy that the farming community gets neglected and alcohol and drug abuse and sexual violence goes by "unseen". Many cases don't even get reported and so children grow up and women stay silent with the trauma and the abuse.
One Heart is all about leading the way to a brighter future by helping these children and women and families cope and heal from the trauma and pain and teach them to overcome through the social emotional services that we give, the counselling and trauma debriefing and running program workshops for victim empowerment and educate them in substance abuse. We want to employ a full time social worker and substance abuse counselor that will operate between the Center, farms and schools daily.
1000 - 2000 rural people's lives can be changed through this initiative and teach them to reach their full potential in life by improving their social emotional health through counselling and social support services. This initiative will have a life long impact on a child's life and may heal many emotionally broken individuals or families from past abuse.
